Harriers’ double delight
HIGHGATE Harriers were celebrating on Sunday when the club’s top two teams finished first and second in the Hampstead 10K road race.
Speedy Henry Dodwell led the charge with a magnificent individual performance as he won the race outright with a time of 32 minutes, 49 seconds.
Dale Bickham, Ryan McKinley and last years’ winner Chris Beecham finished second, third and fourth respectively to earn the Harriers ‘A’ team maximum points.
Highgate’s ‘B’ team rounded off a successful afternoon for the club when they came home in second place. Joseph Lowe crossed th finishing line first for the Highgate second string when he finished ninth, with a time of 37mins, 40secs. He was closely followed by teammate Duncan Burbidge, who hit home in 10th place just 14 seconds later.
In the women’s race Jenny Turner was the first to finish from the Harriers with a respectable time of 46mins 59secs, earning her ninth place out of a field of 107 runners.
Highgate’s men’s team were also in action at Parliament HIll Fields on Saturday in the London Clubs Challenge.
Parisian Thierry Lebreton stacked up an amazing 36 points in the field with a series of impressive performances as he competed in the javelin, the shot putt, the discus and the hammer. |
