Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 12 July 2007
Copy America? No thanks!
•I HAD to scream ‘No!’ when I read the headline ‘Let’s have an American-style yellow bus’ on Lynette Kyme’s letter (July 7). As a rule of thumb let’s not have an American-style anything.
Every time I open a newspaper or turn on the radio there is some Brit saying: ‘The Americans do it this way, or that way.’
So what?
They also do foreign invasions, gas-guzzling cars, obesity, poor education, Christian fundamentalism, trailer parks, compensation lawyers, pet psychiatrists and Jerry Springer.
It’s time to wake up to the fact that the USA is no role model for a mature, civilised society. DAVID TOWNSEND
