Fire crews attending the scene of the maisonette fire in Kentish Town
Flames gut maisonette
A FAMILY was forced to flee when fire gutted a Kentish Town maisonette in the second blaze in a council residential block in a month.
Fire crews (pictured) sealed off three streets as they battled flames which destroyed the third- and fourth-floor flat in Maitland Park Road (inset) on Monday morning.
Two women, aged 22 and 16, said they were asleep in the flat when the fire broke out in a bedroom, briefly trapping them in their room before they found a way to safety as fire crews arrived. Another woman and a child are understood to have escaped.
Six fire engines attended and took two-and-a-half hours to contain the blaze. The fire brigade and police are investigating the cause of the blaze.
