FLOOR by floor the Victorian block of 23 three-bedroom flats, known as Stanley Buildings in King’s Cross was demolished last week following a failed court battle by campaigners to preserve it.
Three old blocks of flats stood in or near the site. Only one now remains, this to be preserved for incorporation into a new office block.
The architectural gems of Stanley Buildings – ceiling roses, decorative fire places and carved wooden banisters – have been carefully preserved by the developers following instructions from Camden council.
