Too many signs of the times
•THE new road sign outside Sainsbury’s in Camden Town, advising lorries if they are too high to pass under Camden Road railway bridge, is sensible. However, did it really need its very own pole?
There are far too many signs and too much street furniture on our pavements and in our streets and we need more space for people in the centre of Camden Town.
One London council has removed an enormous amount of street clutter to wide acclaim, so it’s a pity that Camden does not follow suit.
Perhaps, when introducing a new sign in future, thought should be given to its being placed on a pole that already exists.
Or perhaps one sign in and one sign out, at a minimum! LESTER MAY
