Second plunge to death in three weeks

A SECOND man fell to his death from a West Hampstead tower block last night (Wednesday) – less than a month after another man was found dead in the same place.
Neighbours in Casterbridge House, Abbey Road, described hearing a terrified scream in the moments before the man, aged between 25 and 40, hit the ground at around 5pm.
His death is being treated as unexplained.
It comes just three weeks after another man fell from scaffolding wrapped around the block.
Detectives have not ruled out a suspicious death.
A police spokesman said: “Police were called to reports of a male having fallen from the roof of Casterbridge House. Officers and ambulance services attended and found the body of a man in the car park area to the side of the building.
“Inquiries are underway to determine his identity and if there is any next of kin.”
Resident Clara da Silva said: “I heard something like a car crash and someone screaming.”
Colin Allan Lee Wright fell from scaffolding nine months ago.
“It’s too much now,” Ms da Silva, a mother-of-three, said. “I feel scared to leave my home because the council don’t tell you anything.”
Builder Jeton Bejtullahi, who moved to Casterbridge with his wife and two children in January, said the scaffolding should have been removed as soon as the second man died.
He claimed work ended on the estate more than two months ago. “I don’t know if this (death) happened because of the scaffolding but I have a right to make a big complaint,” he said.
A post mortem and inquest will be set at a later date.
