Wonder Women Linda Carter saying goodbye
‘Wonder Woman’ head says goodbye to her pupils
HEADTEACHER Linda Carter was given a superhero send-off when pupils at her Hampstead school staged a Wonder Woman-themed party.
The retiring head, pictured right, whose namesake is the star-spangled 1970s crimefighter, had a Wonder Woman room dedicated to her at Christchurch Primary summer fair on Sunday.
Pupils made a DVD thanking her for her work.
Mrs Carter joined the school in 1993, her first and only headship. Her father was a pupil at Christchurch, and her two great-nieces are currently on its roll.
She said: “It has been a privilege to have such a place to work. We have wonderful children and wonderful staff, and a strong body of parents, which is the secret behind making a school work well. I feel lucky to have had such a career – you have the chance to influence so many people’s lives.”
But her classroom days are not over – in September she will start courses on the history of art, music and opera at Birkbeck College in Bloomsbury. She is also learning the clarinet.
