Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 26 July 2007

Advice was not taken

• LIKE the local community and Camden New Journal I am also deeply disappointed Jubilee Waterside Centre has closed (Government determined to put kids on the streets? July 19).
Jubilee Waterside Centre is an extremely valued community facility. As landlords of the property, we will be working with the administrators and will make every effort to find another organisation to take it on so it can reopen for schools, youth clubs and the local community as soon as possible.
It has closed despite the emergency funding and ongoing consultant advice the council has given the trust (the independent organisation that runs the centre) over the last few years. Sadly, this advice has not been taken and we have repeatedly warned them we could not continue to step in every time it was in financial difficulty.
Until the centre reopens, there are still hundreds of free and affordable sports and leisure activities for young people across the borough this summer. Visit www.camden. gov.uk/summer to find out more.
