Mayor Ken steps in to bus dispute
PROTESTERS fighting to block a new bus route through Kentish Town are celebrating a partial victory after a last-minute meeting with Ken Livingstone yesterday (Wednesday.
Leighton Road and Castle Road residents have been campaigning to stop the 393 bus travelling down their streets as the route is extended from Hackney to Chalk Farm.
But Mr Livingstone promised he would look into whether the route could turn into Kentish Town Road from Prince of Wales Road – cutting out 50 per cent of the journeys along Castle Road – and has promised to monitor the effect on Leighton Road for the next two months.
