Billowing smoke from a fire in the refurbished gothic façade of St Pancras Chambers forced police to close Euston Road and evacuate thousands of workers and commuters on Monday afternoon.
St Pancras and King’s Cross stations, the British Library and Camden Town Hall were all vacated as police closed Euston Road between Hampstead Road and Tottenham Court Road while 40 firefighters dealt with the blaze.
