Young artists create covers for favourite books
BUDDING artists showed off their talents at the Heath Library’s annual art contest. Illustrator John Burningham, who lives in Hampstead, judged the efforts of children who entered the Keats Grove Library’s Friends Group competition on Sunday.
He read from his own book, Would You Rather, after running the rule over 50 entries from children from schools across the borough.
The youngsters’ brief was to illustrate a cover for their favourite book, which ranged from The Famous Five, My Brother’s Famous Bottom and Oliver Twist.
Mr Burningham presented the winners with book tokens donated by the Friends of Heath Library and the winning entries are on display in the foyer until the end of the month.
