Masters strike gold
MASTERS from Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club struck gold at the weekend when they took to the pool for the Barnet Copthall distance meet.
Following on from their success in Brighton the previous weekend, the team of experienced swimmers dominated the winners’ podium with a series of commanding pool performances.
On Saturday Nari Lawrey, Chris Bumby and Adrian Morton all touched home first in their respective races to win gold, while Lucy Mullen added a stunning silver to the overall medal count.
Speedy swimmer Nari was back amongst the medals on Sunday when she won gold in the 400m freestyle, before taking silver in a tough 200m fly event.
Teammate Susan Halter hit treble gold in the 80-84 years old category when she won the 100m and 200m backstroke and the 100m freestyle.
There was double gold for Adam Freer as he won both the 100m and 200m breaststroke, while newcomer Vicky Linton-Crook clinched gold in the 200m backstroke and silver in the 400m freestyle.
The medal count continued as Nicola Carnito won gold and bronze in her respective 400m and 200m freestyle events, while Lucy Mullen grabbed her second silver of the competition in the 100m fly, before winning a bronze in the 200m freestyle.
Morton, Sue Green and Peter Kavanagh also won bronze. |
