Bill for road closures
HAVE I missed the point or has Councillor Jonathan Simpson completely missed it?
Surely, the couple being charged £1,000 to celebrate their civil partnership are being done so because they want to close the road, not because of their sexuality (Gay couple are told to pay £1,000 for reception in road, July 19).
Whether that charge is fair or not is a different matter, but let’s hope Cllr Simpson is as sympathetic in future if others should wish to close roads (cul-de-sacs or otherwise) for their own purposes. Tim Matthews
