Festival circus tricks are worth making song and dance about
CIRCUS tricks were not reserved for the clowns and jugglers on Saturday, as children and curious parents tried their sleight-of-hand at the Swiss Cottage Community Festival.
The open market space beside the library in Swiss Cottage looked like a Mexican carnival, with traditional quadrille costume dancers, balloon racing and the tricky feats of participants.
This year the festival boasted poster painting, kids’ rides and activities, face painting, and a distinctly dangerous-sounding bungee jump on Winchester Road.
For older visitors there was a musical memories cabaret, as well as craft and
bric-a-brac stalls.
Musicians and performers kept the crowd moving throughout the afternoon, with psychedelic grooves and
folky tunes from Beattree and Katy Carr, tribal punk courtesy
of Woodkist and a storming urban dance showcase by the London Urban Collective.
