Peace call
•AN open letter to Frank Dobson MP: The government’s announcement on the last day of parliament of the building of two new aircraft carriers for the British Navy will not fit very well with PM Gordon Brown’s speech to the UN listing, as it did, world poverty, hunger of millions of the world’s children and the dangers of climate change. We are at a loss to know how this announcement will in any way relieve hunger, poverty or slow down climate change. Our fear is that it will give a massive boost to the arms race… Knowing your involvement in the peace movement we know that you will do all in your power to get this outrageous decision rescinded.
