Tributes to stab victim

FRIENDS of a man stabbed to death in Somers Town on Thursday have remembered him with affection.
Martin Wilder, 33, died in the busy Chalton Street at around 6pm.
Newsreader Jon Snow later went to the scene after hearing of the attack, which took place outside the New Horizons youth club.
Shelagh O’Connor, New Horizon’s director, said: “After doing the news (Mr Snow) came down to lend support, but obviously it had been cordoned off. He rang me later to say what a horrendous thing it was, and offered his support to everyone.”
Ms O’Connor said she had been working in her offices at the time.
“The horror of it is still there,” she said. “I saw Martin on the ground. The paramedics had just arrived and were trying to work on him.”
A nurse from the youth club stayed with the dying man until he was taken to hospital.
A friend, who called herself Josie, described Mr Wilder as a “loveable puppy,” who adored animals – including his mongrel dog called Suzy, who had disappeared two weeks before his death.
“He was a great big goofy person,” she said, adding he had been fighting to kick his drug addiction, and was enrolled on a methadone programme.
Mr Wilder lived with his girlfriend and his ex-girlfriend in a council block in Churchway, Euston.
An inquest was opened at St Pancras Coroners’ Court on Monday.
Derek Davis, 40, of Levita House, Chalton Street, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday charged with murder and was remanded in custody.
