Pupils make a little bit of history with maths SATs
HARD-working schoolchildren across the borough have yielded Camden its best-ever maths results in tests for 11-year-olds.
Following on from last year’s fine results, pupils have once again raised the bar in the key stage 2 standard attainment tests (SATs), as more children than ever reached the expected standards in principal subjects.
The figures show huge improvements in English, maths and science.
The number of children reaching the expected level in maths is up from 72 per cent last year to a Camden-best of 76 per cent this year.
English and science both enjoyed a 1 per cent rise nationwide, but this rocketed to as much as 6 per cent in science among Camden’s students. The celebrated scores also ensured the borough a place in the top 15 table for the most improved local authorities in the country.
Andrew Mennear, spokesman for Camden Council schools, said: “This is a fantastic set of results and a real credit to the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers and schools staff.” |
