Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published:16 August 2007
Real hassle • I READ with interest John Gulliver’s piece (Pickpockets have become the real hassle, August 9). The incident described – the sandwich technique – is typical. There are other techniques, such as the “distraction” and the “can you direct me to”. These people are well organised. They operate in crowded spots – open-air events and markets, outside cinemas, in shops and on buses. In July pickpockets were operating between the British Library and King’s Cross station.
If police admit they can do “so little”, it’s the end of civilisation as we know it. Name and address supplied
