Town fall at the first
Spartan League South Division One
Buckingham Athletic 1, Kentish Town 0
TOWN started their season on a losing note on Saturday when they were narrowly beaten by Buckingham Athletic at leafy Stratford Fields.
Only three players from the side that turned out for Town on the final day of last season made it into the starting line-up as the new look side battled to get their campaign off to a flying start. Summer signing Kelfala Fofana showed off an array of flamboyant skills and looked to have won Town an early penalty, only to find a yellow card waiting for him when he returned to his feet.
Athletic went ahead when a cross, come shot from Peter Cooper sailed over keeper Neil McDaid.
Paul Butler missed a great chance to put Town on level terms. The Camden and Islington-based club went close in the second half when Jonathan Donaghue was superbly denied by Joe Burdiak in the home goal.
