Where the service to Careline is free
• IN my letter to the New Journal (August 16) regarding Camden’s plans to cut Careline, I quoted from Councillor Martin Davies’s letter to the CNJ on March 8 in which he stated that consultations had been held with boroughs in Westminster and Kent.
As his day job is with Age Concern in Westminster, he would be well aware that Westminster offers a similar service to Careline free of charge in spite of having one of the lowest council taxes. We pay £234 a year.
Owing to an error in editing, the impression was given that Age Concern provides the free service and appears to set council taxes. I bet Age Concern will be very surprised by this news. BLANCHE MUNDLAK
