Trouble with trips to pool
• THE mixed shower and changing room idea for Kentish Town baths is in danger of alienating many members of our diverse local community and raises questions over how our £25 million is being spent by the Town Hall coalition.
The Town Hall might have to do a lot of convincing with the Muslim community, for example, for this design to gain acceptance.
Is a mixed “village” model appropriate if the baths are also to include a learner-pool for our children? Since two schools (Primrose Hill and Brecknock Primary) have had to close their own learner pools under this new administration and the Town Hall has refused to compensate schools for the transport costs of trips to pools in Islington, which can accommodate kids during the long refurbishment, it is all the more important for the planners and politicians to listen to local people and get this right.
