Bookies’ till snatched by gambler
A GAMBLER fled from a Cricklewood bookmaker with a till under his arm after a violent robbery on Friday.
The man played fruit machines at the Coral bookmakers in Cricklewood Broadway for 45 minutes before forcing his way behind the counter and grabbing a staff member, 28, in a headlock and demanding he open the safe.
Although the employee escaped, the robber left with the till and walked towards Kilburn High Road.
DS Rhys Willis of Finchley Flying Squad said: “This was clearly a frightening experience for the victim who was just doing a day’s work when he was attacked. The man responsible would have been very distinctive as he left the shop and walked down the Broadway.”
Witnesses are being urged to contact 020 8358 1751 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
