Camden put bite on Lions in Unity Cup
Hitmen Tommy and Reuben secure trophy in thriller
CAMDEN saw off King’s Cross-based side Peel Lions to lift the prestigious Under-10s Unity Cup on Saturday.
Goals from Tommy Govey and Reuben Hinkson secured the title in a closely fought final that brought a full day of footballing action to a fitting close at Richard Cobden sports pitch in Camden Town.
Peel Lions and Camden made it into the final after coming top of the tree against Peel Tigers from King’s Cross, Chalcot Rangers from Swiss Cottage and The Scorpions from Bloomsbury. Camden were unbeaten in the first round of group play but Peel Lions dominated the second round to set up a final that was settled three minutes from time when Hinkson added to Govey’s opener with a deceptive curled corner that flew into the net.
• ST Mary’s A from St Mary’s Centre in Swiss Cottage and Chettle Court Rangers have made it through to the grand Unity Cup final for Under-16s.
