Swimming baths are important
• COUNCILLOR Philip Thompson has used the pages of this paper many times to defend the Lib Dems and the Tories for their scheme for Kentish Town swimming baths (in marked contrast to his conspicuous silence during the public meeting I attended!). Yet, time and again, as news of the project leaks out, we see that the views of users and residents have been manipulated or ignored – the very opposite of an ‘open and democratic’ process. What we are seeing is a sham consultation with decisions being taken by developers and not local people.
As for Labour’s ‘Town Hall bosses’ – it’s over a year since Camden changed hands and still Cllr Thompson acts like Labour is in charge.
When will he and his colleagues start taking some responsibility for what goes on in Kentish Town and the rest of the borough? The Labour Party is trying to do its job – holding this shoddy administration to account. The Lib Dem/ Tory council may try to hide behind the smoke and mirrors of political spin, but Camden voters know exactly what they’re trying to pull. SAM MCBRATNEY
