Hot water flows as city farm taps into solar power

KENTISH Town City Farm is to reduce its carbon “hoofprint” by fitting solar panels to its roof.
The panels will heat the farm’s hot water, used by schoolchildren to wash their hands after close encounters with the animals.
Farm co-ordinator Mick Magenn said: “City farms try to lead by example and the solar panels are a fantastic educational tool.
“In future, when schools visit we will be able to explain how solar energy works and they can see the benefit from the final product when they wash their hands.”
The £11,000 project at the farm in Cressfield Close has been been largely sponsored by power firm EDF Energy.
EDF spokesman Peter Hoffman said: “Thousands of young people visiting Kentish Town city farm will be able to see a practical example of renewable energy technology in action.”
