First winner of Gandhi scholarship announced
MAHATMA GANDHI, India’s legendary spiritual leader, continues to help his countrymen from beyond the grave with a new scholarship programme established at London Metropolitan University.
Priyanka Raghavan, a 22-year-old mass communications graduate from Bangalore, in southern India, won the first ever Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship for outstanding Indian postgraduates.
As well as academic excellence, the scholarship is also judged by Gandhi-esque skills, such as leadership and social awareness.
Ms Raghavan said: “Having won the patronage of the Mahatma Gandhi Foundation is a matter of great pride and honour, and I hope to make them proud by taking forward the principles they believe in.” |
