Royal Academy chooses Phoebe

AN A-level art student beat hundreds of budding Picasso’s by having two of her works selected for an online exhibition at The Royal Academy.
Phoebe Lowndes, 18, who has just completed her A-levels at Parliament Hill school in Camden, was gob-smacked when her textiles pieces were selected from more than 200 submissions to appear at AttRAct, the Royal Academy Online A-level Summer Exhibition.
Ms Lowndes (above) said: “I couldn’t believe it when I found out, I was absolutely made up especially with all the nice things the art critics said.
“I should probably rethink my career choice but I think art will just be a hobby for me.”
Her two pieces, a portrait of her friend and a close-up painting of skin, were inspired by exhibition’s theme of identity.
The exhibition is the first of its kind and features 34 student’s artwork from over 30 secondary schools in the London area.
The two-month exhibition has just finished and can be seen at www.royalacademy.org.uk/attract
