Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 13 September 2007
Young are also victims
• YOU are right to report on the menace of muggers on the Finchley Road (Blitz on muggers who prey on pupils, September 6). As is often the case, but less frequently reported, it is young people who are the victims of crime here, not the perpetrators.
Those who seek to demonise all youngsters should bear this in mind.
It is good to hear from Chief Superintendent Mark Heath that the Finchley Road area will be getting more attention. More CCTV cameras would clearly help.
Given that, I hope Councillor Chris Philp will be lobbying his fellow Tories for more funding for CCTV. Together with the Lib Dems, Cllr Philp’s Tories control the purse-strings. Residents in Camden want the council to take a lead in tackling crime and anti-social behaviour, not cutting services. MIKE KATZ
