Autumn flower show reveals the borough’s green-fingered talent
GREEN-fingered gardeners from across the borough turned out at the Gospel Oak Methodist Church on Saturday to enjoy the Hampstead Horticultural Society Autumn Show.
With an array of trophies and certificates up for the grabs, the premier planter was Hampstead’s Marysa Norris, who won best in show in the horticultural and the domestic classes.
Meanwhile best in show in the Floral Art Class went to Margaret Scanlon, for her flower arrangement reflecting a recent holiday to Kenya.
Youngsters also displayed their passion for gardening, with 10-year-old Serena Carr and her brother Thomas, 7, finishing in first and second place respectively in the Miniature Gardens competition. Eva Rowlatt, 6, was also among the prize winners, taking third place, while younger sister Zola, 5, wowed judges with her Mister Men biscuits.
All the award winners are now invited to a special prize giving presentation at Burgh House in Hampstead in November.
