Town bow out of cup
FA Vase First
Qualifying Round
Hoddesdon Town 2,
Kentish Town 0
KENTISH Town’s highly anticipated cup run was cut short on Saturday when they were beaten by rivals Hoddesdon Town in the first qualifying round of the FA Vase.
Having been accepted into the competition for the first time in the club’s history, Town were eager to prove their credentials against the top teams in the tournament.
But the Camden and Islington-based side saw their dreams shattered at the first hurdle as Hoddesdon, who play alongside Kentish Town in the Spartan South Midlands League, ran out 2-0 winners.
The result could have been so different had top striker Jonathan Donoghue not wasted three good chances for Town.
Boss Frank Zanre said: “We didn’t deserve this scoreline. We put so much into our defence, but our finishing was poor.”
