Arsenal romp home
Champions League
Arsenal 3, Sevilla 0
THE Gunners top their Champions League group as well as the Premier League after a comfortable 3-0 win against Sevilla last night (Wednesday) at the Emirates. Cesc Fabregas was once again Arsenal’s star, opening the scoring and setting up goals for Robin van Persie and Eduardo.
Fabregas scored via a deflection midway through the first half, which was no more than he deserved.
With Gilberto dropped, Flamini shored up the midfield and it was the Frenchman who had the first meaningful effort, stinging the fingers of Sevilla goalkeeper Palop.
The Gunners piled on the pressure in the first half but often left space at the back, which was exploited by Diego Capel.
Van Persie settled the nerves on the hour mark, scoring from close range after a Fabregas’ free-kick.
Eduardo sealed the win in the final seconds after Fabregas unselfishly squared the ball from a scoring position.
