Golden goal rush for Saints
Camden and Islington Youth League
IT was another action packed week in the Camden and Islington Youth League as the Astroturf pitches at Market Road witnessed even more thrills and spills. Isledon Wolves and Harbour shared the points in a cracking encounter in the under-9s league. Playing their first ever match in the league, Harbour got off to a magnificent start when Matthew O’Hara fired them ahead early on. Jason Rice levelled for Isledon, but Harbour captain Jack Richardson led by example when he fired his side back in front.
Harbour were denied a winning league debut, however, when Luke Heldt rescued a point for Wolves with a tremendous shot on the turn two minutes from time to earn a pulsating 2-2 draw.
Hampstead were among the biggest winners in the under-9s league following a convincing win over Crown and Manor. Eric Melo and Angel Ross scored two goals apiece, while Sam Arthur was also on target as Hampstead run out 5-0 winners.
In the under-10s league, goals from Tyrone Mullholland, Jerell Kirnon and Michael Moss saw Peel start their season with a 3-0 win over Regents Park.
St Pancras netted the result of the day when they stormed to a mammoth 12-0 victory over Brunswick in the under-11s league. Sharpshooter Alfie Francis scored four goals, while Snapper Young and Hendrick Bungisa both hit hat-tricks. George Yianni scored from the spot, before Alfie Moir completed the rout as the Saints marched to a devastating win.
St Pancras picked up their second win of the weekend in the under-13s category when they came from 2-0 down to beat Angel. Goals from Danyal Veli and Edward Skowronek pulled the scores level for the Saints. A smart back-heel from Nathan Leadenham edged St Pancras in front, before Veli bagged his second of the game to seal a fantastic 4-2 comeback.
Lyndhurst Eagles got their campaign off to a flying start in the under-14s division with a resounding victory against Regents Park. Connor Trundell opened the scoring for Lyndhurst before Charlie Rose netted two quick goals to put the result beyond doubt. James Goldring added his name to the score sheet as the Eagles continued to run riot in front of goal. Tosin Akande also bagged a brace to add the finishing touches to an impressive 6-0 win.
Elsewhere in the under-14s league, Hampstead ran out 3-2 winners against FDS.
In the under-15s division, hat-trick hero Matt Osborne led Kentish Town to victory in a seven-goal thriller against champions Park View Rangers. Haydon Williams was also on target for Kentish Town, who sealed a dramatic 4-3 win.
