Parks are not for concreting over
• THE putting on hold of the plan to build, in Regent’s Park, 10 five-a-side football pitches (New pitches Green probe, September 13) is very good news and hopefully the scheme will be abandoned.
Parks are not for concreting over.
In this context it was sad that it was decided to do away with the tennis courts and golf driving range to make room for this project.
We need to provide all the help possible to encourage tennis players to this country, while the driving range catered for a wide range of ages in the community.
It would be a good service if the tennis courts and the driving range were reinstated within the confines of this extensive park. REH Crellin
