Ever heard the one about the dishwasher?

HOW many people does it take to install a dishwasher?
According to broadcaster and journalist, Joan Bakewell (pictured), who ordered a dishwasher from Argos in Camden High Street earlier this month, it took one visit by two engineers, one plumber, her son and a neighbour and the old dishwasher is still sitting outside her home.
On arrival the Argos engineers recited Argos' delivery policy to Ms Bakewell, stating that the onus is on the customer to disconnect the old appliance before the new one can be installed.
They left her home in Primrose Hill without installing the new equipment.
The plumber who she paid to install the appliance in her basement refused to take the old dishwasher upstairs to ground level. Meanwhile Camden Council's white goods collection team told her they would only collect the unwanted dishwasher from the street.
Argos have a “Take Back” service which provides that for a “small fee” they will arrange collection and disposal of the old item.
An Argos spokesman said: “Our records show that Ms Bakewell declined this opportunity.”
A council spokesman said it runs a removal service for items like dishwashers for free and had no idea why Ms Bakewell was told they could not pick up the item from her basement.
