Eight deny student’s murder

EIGHT young Somali men charged with the murder of student Mahir Osman in Camden Town made their first Old Bailey appearance on Friday.
Judge Stephen Kramer, QC, fixed their trial, expected to last several weeks, for February 12 next year.
Some of the accused are in custody and others are on bail with stringent conditions. A further preliminary hearing will be held in January.
The suspects – only three can be named at this stage – are alleged to have been among a mob involved in the fatal attack on Mahir, 18, from Swiss Cottage, in Camden High Street.
Three 17-year-olds, two boys aged 16 and three adults, Faisal Wangita, 24, Ismail Mohammed, 20, and Liban Elmi, 20, all from Camden, denied that “together with others” they murdered Mahir on January 28.
They pleaded not guilty to using or threatening violence, conspiring with others to wound, and plotting to arm themselves with knives, hammers, bottles and scaffold poles.
