Murder suspects are ‘not from here’
YOUTHS arrested in connection with the murder of Timothy Stilwell on the Rowley Way estate did not come from there.
Mr Stilwell, 49, was stabbed to death on the award-winning Abbey Road estate in West Hampstead in June.
Police Constable Gary Campbell, a member of the Kilburn Safer Neighbourhood Team based at West Hampstead, said: “The murder wasn’t related to the problems on the estate, and none of the youths arrested were from here.
“All of the problems we’ve had are from people coming here, often from the Harrow Road area. “Rowley Way doesn’t deserve its reputation. It’s not a no-go estate, it’s not bad.”
He added ‘contacts’ on the estate had not handed over any information to detectives about the murderers – which he would have expected if the killers had lived there.
The three youths are bailed and are due to return to a central London station at the end of the month.
