Help us bring Xmas cheer
A BIG-hearted New Journal reader has boosted our Christmas hamper appeal by #100 this week. The generous present for the needy in the borough was posted anonymously through our doors. But we still need your help to spread some Christmas joy to the elderly and the vulnerable who may otherwise find it hard to celebrate the season.
Remember, each donation goes into our unique annual hamper fund – a gift from our loyal readership to those who, so often, the Christmas spirit has overlooked. Your neighbours include the single parents struggling to make ends meet; the pensioners who face a long cold lonely winter; and those who have to save all year to make sure their families have a little extra something to put round the tree.
Last year, with your help, we raised enough money to distribute over 250 luxury hampers packed full of Christmas goodies. But we need your help again to show others that the Christmas spirit lives on.
