Campaigners earmark Mount Pleasant to solve crisis
THIS is the sprawling site that parents struggling to find classroom places for their children in the south of the borough want transformed into a new secondary school.
The Post Office land at Mount Pleasant – so big it lies on both sides of the Camden and Islington border in Clerkenwell – is due to close as a sorting office next year.
Its future use is due to be considered at public consultation with a view to demolishing the building and creating around 1,500 new homes.
Campaigners fighting for a new school in the area this week urged education chiefs to juggle council budgets to turn the dream of a new school into a reality. >> more |
