Harriers' run of the season

Athletics

HIGHGATE Harriers enjoyed their most successful cross-country meet of the season on Saturday as both the men's and the women's teams were victorious in the North London Championships, which were held in Kingsbury.
In the women's field, Kate Jenrick gave a grand display of front running as she stormed to victory in the 6,000m with a time of 23minutes, 27 seconds.
Highgate dominated the top order with Anne Curley, Elizabeth Ogunde, Astrid Wingler, Alex Goodwin and Louise Burnie all securing top-ten finishes.
Harriers' men's team were also in commanding form as they won their five-mile event.
Canadian middle distance runner Glen Saqui came home second with a time of 25mins, 28secs, while Chris Beecham finished third just 30 seconds behind.
With more than 100 runners finishing the race, Alistair Lindsay and Damian Shirley both sealed a top 20 finish as they came home in 16th and 18th place respectively, while Andrew Aitken completed the scoring in 26th spot.

HEATHSIDE also had a strong contingent out in force at the North London Cross Country Championships on Saturday.
Rob Cousins was Heathside's star performer as he secured a comfortable victory in the men's race, recording a winning time of 25mins, 11secs.
Talented youngster Efrem Semreab hit a finishing time of just over 26mins to take fifth place, while Paul Lemmon was the highest placed veteran as he came eighth with a time of 26 mins, 32secs.
In the women's event, Anne Critchlow ran a great race to finish second with a time of 23mins, 55secs.

Junior Athletics

HIGHGATE'S young stars enjoyed a series of fantastic runs in the North West London Cross Country League on Saturday.
Highgate's under-15s boys' team of William and George Laing, Hamish Birrell and Max Coventry were the biggest performers on the day as they won the 4000m.
The under-15s girls' side of Alice Keane, Mathilda Bridge, Talia Caspi and Georgia Doolan put in confident displays as they finished second in the 3000m.
Heathside also had their talented juniors out on parade in Kingsbury.
Among the stars was Anna Clarke-Janssen, who won the under-17s women's race, while in the under-13s girls' category Lottie Sorbie finished fourth.
