Lyndhurst caretaker dies
A RETIRED caretaker who spent more than 20 years looking after Lyndhurst Hall has died – just weeks after the building he loved was bulldozed.
Alexander Dyos, 80, had told the Town Hall to save the former youth club in Warden Road, Kentish Town and turn it into the perfect place for restless teenagers.
But his cry was ignored when officials and councillors agreed to sell the building off and later sanctioned its demolition.
His family yesterday (Wednesday) paid tribute to his work and told how that they had taken him in a wheelchair to see the building as it was boarded up and prepared for demolition.
Mr Dyos died on November 3 and his funeral service was held in Golders Green
on Monday. He had been suffering from heart problems.
