Cup quest kicks off
Camden Girls book place in second round of London Schools tourny
THERE were mixed fortunes for Camden School for Girls on Thursday when they stepped out at the Cantelowes Sports Pitch for the first round of the Inner London County Schools’ Peter Hill Cup.
The under-15s squad (pictured) put in an impressive display as they edged past Hackney’s Mossbourne Community Academy to book their place in the second round.
A single strike from Frankie Boon proved decisive as Camden School, which is based in Sandall Road off Camden Road, sealed a narrow 1-0 victory.
The girls will now go on to face Lewisham’s Sedgehill Secondary School in the second round of the competition.
Camden’s Under-13s team were less fortunate as they lost out to Mossbourne in a closely fought encounter.
Despite the valiant heroics of goalkeeper Camille Etchart, Camden suffered a 1-0 defeat as the visitors scored a dramatic late winner.
Camden had their chances, the best of which falling to Grace Ogwuma-Tate.
Grace made a darting run from the wing before unleashing a stinging shot, which was well saved by the keeper. |
