Basketball stars net the double in style

GIRLS from Parliament Hill School celebrated in style on yesterday (Wednesday) after clinching the double in the Camden Secondary Schools Basketball Association (CSSBA) Trophy, which was held at the Swiss Cottage Sports Centre.
Organised by chair of the CSSBA John Stewart, who is also the Head teacher at St Mary Magdalene Primary School in Holloway, the competition proved a huge success as 18 teams from nine schools across the borough took to the court.
In a highly skilled and well-balanced under-16s final, reigning champions Parliament Hill faced a resilient Haverstock side.
Parliament Hill’s experience shone through as Belma Kapetanovic led the attack, netting 11 valuable points.
The Highgate-based side continued to dominate, with captain Kate Fenoy scoring a further seven points.
Haverstock put up a brave performance, but Parliament Hill stormed to victory with Eva Ellis and Nisa Kelly hitting five and four points respectively, and Genta Haxhija, Sophie Hewitt, Charlotte Pierce and Eabha Ebrill all scoring two points apiece.
In the end the Parli girls won 33-15, clinching the trophy for the fourth year in a row.
Parliament Hill continued their success in the under-14s final as they overcame neighbouring rivals La Sainte Union 29-11 to retain their crown and capture top honours for the second successive year.
Sabrina Mahri led the scoring with 14 points, while Nisa Kelmendi scored a further seven. Dea Maloku and Eucalypta Bradley both hit four points each.
