Action-packed start for footballing youngsters
Half-time whistle blows on Camden and Islington Youth League
THE half-time whistle has been blown in the Camden and Islington Youth League and as promised Market Road has played host to scores of action packed matches.
With teams divided into their final league groups and the big kick-off in the cup competitions just around the corner, the second half of the season is set to be just as exciting as they battle it out for top honours.
So far, Futebol De Salao are leading the way in the under-9s A division after picking up three wins and a draw from their opening four games. Isledon Wolves are just three points behind, with the chance to draw level should they win their game in hand.
In the under-9s B league, Angel Islington have made a perfect start with four wins out of four.
Hampstead are leading the way in the under-10s A league, although with a game in hand St Pancras and Westway are set to make it a tense title challenge.
FDS top the under-10s B division with one of the best records in the league so far. With three wins out of three, FDS have scored an incredible 19 goals, while conceding just once.
Proving one of the closest age groups so far, Lyndhurst and Tufnell both have six points, while Crown and Manor, Isledon Wolves, Islington Admiral Youth and Regents Park all have three points.
The under-11s A league hangs in the balance, although Somers Town are the early front runners with three wins and two draws from their opening five games. Peel are second, having won both of their opening games, and with three games in hand they could still open up a four point lead at the top.
Just two points separate the top three teams in the under-11s B league. Isledon Wolves are currently top with 12 points, while Soccerscool and Tufnell have 11 and 10 points respectively.
Chapel Boys and Tufnell are sharing top spot in the under-12s A league with nine points apiece from four games. Hampstead are third just two points behind.
Lyndhurst have taken charge of the under 12s B division having picked up a maximum 12 points, scoring 11 goals and conceding just three in their opening four games.
In the under-13s A league Highbury Falcons and Lyndhurst are battling it out at the top with 10 points each. Bridge Rovers are third on seven points, a point ahead of Isledon Wolves.
FDS complete a hat trick of table topping performances in the under-13s B league with three wins and a draw from their opening four games. Elite Soccer and Tufnell are just a point behind in joint second.
Elite Soccer and Park View Rangers are fighting it out at the top of the under-14s league. Both teams have notched up 27 points, with nine wins each so far. Brunswick are also in contention, lying just a win behind in third place.
