Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 04 October 2007
Why it’s a challenging time for us
• I AM a reader of Rose Hacker’s column and a believer in God (Religious questions that haunt me, September 13). I was raised as a Muslim and still go to prayers at the mosque. I am currently fasting as it’s Ramadan.
I have many friends of different faiths and friends of no faith. Peace, tolerance and co-existence symbolise what I believe in.
We are living in challenging times, but I feel that has always been the case and we must keep challenging the fundamentalists in every religion and never more so than now. Fundamentalism has come back into vogue, which is not healthy for a peaceful world.
During Ramadan I will be praying for the good health and love of my family, all my friends of all faiths and no faith as well as for peace, tolerance and co-existence in the world.
I have always lived in a multi-faith country and I hope I always will. My sincere prayers and good wishes to Rose during this holy season. Tayyab Rafique
