Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 04 October 2007
Language barriers
• WHY do some people not like to pronounce the letters T or H, for instance, or drop letters? They also assume you know what they are going to say, such as “you know what I mean” (no, I do not know what you mean) and “you know what I am saying” (no, I do not know what you are saying, please explain yourself).
Let us pronounce our beautiful English language in all its glory. After all, we were not taught in school, for example: nufen (nothing or anything); ense (hence); ell (hell); beare (better).
I would also like to ask why some people find it necessary to use so-called swear words, which are not even in the dictionary, but simply ugly vocabulary. RB
