Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 11 October 2007
Was it too much like hard work to collect this tax?
• I WOULD like the director of finance to explain why he failed to collect £4 million of council tax for 2006-7 and £4.9 million the previous year. Was it too much hard work? Perhaps Cllr Keith Moffitt would like to give his reasons for councillors awarding themselves a rise in their already very generous allowances while at the same time cutting grants to vulnerable groups like Careline.
It seems to me that becoming a councillor is now turning into a “nice little earner” tax-free. BLANCHE MUNDLAK
