Volunteering an opinion on mental health projects
• I UNDERSTAND a contract for running day centre services for people with mental health problems was awarded recently to a consortium of voluntary organisations (Mind in Camden, Holy Cross Centre Trust and Volunteer Centre Camden) that bid to run these primarily on the basis of volunteer rather than paid labour. Was anyone else, therefore, concerned by the appearance of the advertisement for the ‘Get Into Volunteering – Speed Volunteering!’ event to recruit volunteers for mental health projects which appeared on the back page of the New Journal’s Review section (October 4)?
