Os Lusos, savour their moment of triumph after Sunday’s action-packed games

Goal king Cole and magic Medford seal wins in Camden Cup

THERE were goals galore at Hackney Marshes as we teamed-up with the Camden Sunday League to kick off our prestigious Challenge Cup.
Division One leaders Reddot were among the teams battling it out in the opening round of the competition as they squared up against second division side Dinamo Dorigo. Reddot raced into the lead when JD Trigger scored from the spot after being brought down in the area by Harun Matin. Jason Medford doubled their advantage, before Hiren Ichharem pulled a goal back for Dorigo with a curling left-footed effort.
Leading scorer Steven Bruce added a third for Reddot with his seventh goal in five games. But Dorigo hit back again to make it 3-2 as Ichharem grabbed his second of the game.
With the result hanging in the balance, Medford stole centre stage as he scored twice to complete his hat-trick, sealing a resounding 5-2 win for a depleted Reddot side.
Phoenix are also through to the second round after a pulsating victory over AFC Brasenose. Talented 16-year-old Aaron Clarke, who lives in Hampstead, struck twice in the opening stages as Phoenix got off to a flying start. Wayne Moralee added a third, before Brasenose hit back thanks to a deflected effort from Watson Pringle.
Phoenix were reduced to 10 men when Scott Thurlow was shown a straight red, but the Division One side still managed to increase their lead as James Cole made it 4-1.
Brasenose battled back and pulled to within touching distance of Phoenix courtesy of an own goal and a strike from Ritchie Latham.
But Phoenix upped their tempo as Cole went on to complete his hat-trick, while Moralee grabbed his second of the game. Captain Darren May was also on target as Phoenix ran out 8-4 winners. Eugene Pooley added a fourth goal for Brasenose.
The biggest win of the round went to Os Lusos, who netted a commanding 10-1 victory over DL. Hornsey also progressed through to the next round after goals from Brett Wheeler, Neil Webster, Paul Harding and Jay Gonzales earned them a 4-2 win over Moorehouse.
Mitchell Graham hit four as CS Maritimo beat Mayville. Nelson Silva also bagged a brace as Maritimo ran out 6-2 winners. Elsewhere Desportivo beat Bertoli 2-0, while DOM beat Consitution 5-2.
