Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 18 October 2007
Repairs are too costly
• I APPLAUD Councillor Roger Robinson (Talking about housing – Try listening for once, September 27) highlighting the overpriced works that tenants and leaseholders are subjected to, only to receive repairs of the poorest quality after sometimes waiting years.
I have first-hand experience and a seven-year file on my previous flat at College Place, Camden Town, where I experienced incompetence of unbelievable proportions and money spent with seemingly no thought to value. I do not need Steven Spielberg to tell me what is required are independent surveys, competitive and competent contractors and deadlines for time and quality which incur financial penalties if missed.
As for the £5,000 to landlords I am lost for words and look forward to Councillor Chris Naylor explaining why the council would pay private individuals and what he is actually doing to address the valid points made by Cllr Robinson. JULIE HAGGER
