Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Published: 18 October 2007
Mixed message on law and order issues?
• WELL done to the New Journal for exposing the true life underbelly of Camden streets (The £1,000 a day dealer, October 11). Shopkeepers and residents being attacked, knuckle-dusters being used, drug deals, disorder and chaos.
Then a whole page (Farewell to the Bear) is devoted to a thug and hooligan whose life is written in such glowing terms that it’s hard not to remember that this guy and his casual gang will have brought disorder to many towns across the United Kingdom.
While I have no wish to speak ill of the dead, I’m sure he was a nice guy to his mates and supporters of his beloved Arsenal but was the same welcome extended to opposing fans?
What sort of message are you sending to younger readers – break the law and be idolised by hundreds of people? name and address supplied
